This is My Story.

I am a registered nurse of 37 years who treasured and marveled at the opportunity to care for patients. I think it's called a love for the business, a heart to serve. I was introduced to Long-term care in 1995 but reconciled it was my calling in 2005. I took a Director of Nursing position with no experience in Long-term care. To let you know, I knew very little about the industry; it was a 270-bed facility. I spent many tireless hours working to improve the overall performance of the staff to improve the quality of life for the residents.

As a result of two exceptional leaders who have experience with long-term care joining my team, I was saved from certain death. I was grateful to both of them for joining my team. The 270-bed facility had a long history of annual surveys that comprised 28-34 deficiencies received after 18 months of working tirelessly to establish systems, ensure standards of practice were carried out, and build a cohesive team who understood the mission the day the annual survey was finally here.

I know you are anxiously awaiting to hear the outcome. With the two exceptional leaders sent to me, the facility and that fantastic team achieved a survey of 3 deficiencies and one clinical concern. Remember, I am new to long-term care, so I am following the surveyor trying to find out why and what deficiency in the standard of practice caused the concern. My two exceptional team members explained, let it go, do you want 28 or 1. I let it go and now could see the joy and pride that radiated from the staff who were the ones who had accomplished this outcome. The same result makes me understand and strive to repeat those outcomes to this day and even better.

I was privileged to work with a sizable long-term care corporation that opened doors to work in multi-state facilities with many cultures and backgrounds. I felt that the greatest minds mentored me in long-term care. My roles continued to grow, and my experiences expanded. I have worked as a Clinical nurse consulting for multi-state, Director of Clinical operations single and multi-state, given a fantastic opportunity to work with an enormous Electronic health Record corporation that allowed me to learn how to build healthcare products, provide onboarding of facilities to go live with electronic records that serve them and their needs. These experiences helped me provide one of my greatest passions- my joy- to teach nurses systems and processes, products, and functionality. I am grateful for those opportunities as they made room for growth and taught me how to grow others. I want to be a mentor, and above all, a platform for nurses to build their skills, discover their full potential, and feel safe to grow into the leaders they were destined to be. I have experienced what it is like to be a skilled individual without a proper outlet to have guidance that would last me a lifetime finally. I want to be that foundation for you.

My call to serve the long-term care communities fueled my desire to share knowledge willingly imparted to me.

My understanding of hard work, how to grow and build teams of leaders backs my experience of achieving excellent outcomes, and how to teach and train using hands-on, bedside, and long-distance education.

That passion- to be the change-launched Core Systems Clinical Consulting.
